Reduction in weed infestation through integrated depletion of the weed seed bank in a rice-wheat cropping system

چکیده

Chemical-dependent weed control has led to the evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds and pollution arable land water systems, posing a great threat food security environmental safety. For first time, we developed simple management regime ecologically deplete seed bank under wheat-rice cropping system, which in turn allowed reduction frequency conventional herbicide applications while sustainably reducing infestation levels. The key ecological methods adopted here involve cleaning irrigation by intercepting seeds at entrance exit removing floating with net during before rice planting, significantly reduced input into bank. Quantitative analysis population dynamics showed that implementation this consecutively for 6 years density total 51% dominant grassy 53% compared those beginning. effect sound was comparable dual- or triple-application chemical each crop growing season. results indicated that, method, integrated method could reduce number half costs labor 30%. Furthermore, quantitative modeling species, Alopecurus japonicus, continuous adoption strategy more than 90%, thereby freeing fields presence noxious weed.

Weed seed-bank responses to long-term fertilization in a rice-wheat rotation system

We studied the heterogeneity of soil weed seed-bank in a rice-wheat rotation system after long-term application of different organic or non-organic fertilizers, and the effects of major nutrients on the characteristics of the weed seed-bank. The soil was sampled in the Taihu area after a 31-year long-term fertilization experiment. Weed seeds were identified and counted in the surface soil of 12...

Effect of tillage systems on weed infestation of durum wheat

Weed infestation of durum wheat was determined in the systems of conventional tillage(CT), reduced tillage (RT) and herbicide tillage (HT). Cultivations measures performed after theharvest of the previous crop included shallow ploughing (at a depth of 10-12 cm) and pre-winterploughing (25-30 cm) in the CT system; only field cultivation (10-15 cm) in the RT system; andspraying with glyphosate (R...

Cropping systems alter weed seed banks in Pacific Northwest semi-arid wheat region

Arable land weed seed banks are dynamic and reflect cropping history, current management, and environment. Changes in crop rotation and tillage system can alter weed seed density and species composition. In the semi-arid region of the Pacific Northwest, USA, no-till spring cropping is being studied as an alternative to the traditional winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)/dust-mulch fallow (WWF) ...

The Efficiency of Integrated Pre-Emergence and Post-Emergence Herbicides in Nutrient Uptake by Wheat and Nutrient Depletion by Weeds in Sesame-Wheat Cropping System in Khuzestan

In order to investigate the effect of pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicides on nutrient depletion, weed population and nutrient uptake by wheat in sesame-wheat cropping system in Khuzestan a field experiment was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications in the research farm of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz in 2019-2020. Treatments included no weeding, hand...

Integrated Effect of Seed Rates and Weed Management Treatments in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Abstract: Increased crop density and use of herbicides are two important components of integrated weed management program in wheat but no much information is available on combined effects of these two treatments. A field experiment was conducted to determine the interaction effect of increasing seed rates and weed management treatments on monocot and dicot weeds, grain and straw yield and uptak...
